Issue #1277: Fascism is here and both sides of the aisle are guilty

via The Intercept

The highest for of signal from today came from an article published by Ken Klippenstein and Lee Fang at The Intercept. In it they document how the Department of Homeland Security and a number of other alphabet soup agencies and boards has teamed up with social media companies to identify and overtly censor what they deem to be "disinformation, misinformation, and malinformation". The collaboration between the government and social media companies has gotten stronger in recent years with executives from social media companies meeting bi-weekly with government officials to discuss how they can better identify and root out ideas that they deem to be misleading to the public and detrimental to a cohesive civil society.

Now, anyone who's been half awake over the last few years has known that this type of collusion was definitely going on. However, the direct messages between social media execs and government officials highlighted in Ken and Lee's piece provide hard evidence that no man, woman or child could refute. The Ministry of Truth exist, it has been here for quite some time, but it hasn't taken the form described in 1984... yet.

Many people in the media and the sheep who take their word at face value have been throwing the word "fascism" around when they want to discredit their political opponents.

"Trump is ushering in fascism."

"Antifa are the real fascists."

"The Supreme Court is filled with fascists."

Due to the innundation of the word and its branches in recent years, many people have become completely detached from the definition of the word as described by Benito Mussolini, the father of the political philosophy; "Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power.”

When anchoring to that definition it is easy to see that fascism has, in fact, been on the rise in the US, but not in the way that many on both sides of the aisle screeching about it think that it is. What Ken and Lee detail in their article is what actual fascism looks like. And, guess what? It's being perpetrated by both parties. The article focuses on a lot of the collaboration the Biden administration has had with social media companies, but it also highlights that the conditions for this type of corporate-government collusion were accelerated by the Trump administration.

via The Intercept

Now, can one say for sure that President Trump knew that the outcome of him passing the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Act would lead to a public-private partnership that would eventually cause information that may have been beneficial to his reelection to get censored? No. This type of foresight is unlikely. But, it highlights the achilles heel of the political system that has been erected here in the US; anything written into law by one politician who thinks it will work in his own or his party's benefit at the detriment of the opposing party will eventually be weaponized by the opposing party. The only "party" that benefits is the unelected party that operates behind the curtains and pulls the actual strings of power; the US intelligence apparatus.

Every political hot topic, particularly those that envoke "national security" and "acceptable speech", that leads to legislation always seems to give more power to the unaccountable party of alphabet soup agencies that operate with black budgets and impunity. Amassing more autonomy and power that always seems to inevitably lead to more meddling in the private sector. In 2022, we've reached the point where these agencies are actively meeting with social media companies to control the narrative and prevent the Common Man from discerning reality for himself. They posture that he is too stupid to think critically and determine what is right and wrong for himself. The "truth" must be spoon fed to him.

In reality, the spoon feeding of "truth" doesn't come from a place of compassion, it comes from an unsatiated urge to control the Common Man and every aspect of his life. Something that makes this clear to me is the fact that the seed that led to the fascist partnership between the state and social media companies that was documented today is the Department of Homeland Security, which was spun up in the aftermath of 9/11 to identify those who attacked us on that day and prevent others from carrying out similar attacks.

via The Intercept

It's been 21 years since 9/11 and I find it a bit odd that people expect the DHS to prevent others from carrying out similar attacks when it's not exactly clear that they ever put in an effort to accurately investigate 9/11. It's pretty common knowledge that the official narrative everyone was spoonfed in the aftermath - Saddam Hussein collaborated with Osama Bin Laden to attack the US - turned out not to be true. The intelligence apparatus spun up false narratives around non-existent weapons of mass destruction and use those false narratives to justify an invasion of Iraq that led to more than ONE MILLION innocent civilians dying and a political vacuum  opening up that has left the country in disarray. It also led to the US military spending the better part of two decades and trillions of dollars in Afghanistan with nothing to show for it but an utterly disgraceful exit.

I'm not sure I've seen the DHS do a deep dive into why the hijackers of the planes that flew into the World Trade Center buildings were Saudi nationals, which is a pretty well known fact. What's up with that? How can this agency be trusted with more and more power - power that has now been turned against the American public - when it doesn't seem like they were successful in accomplishing the problem they were created to solve in the first place?

Seeing how things have played out over the last twenty years, it doesn't seem crazy to think that they didn't really even care about accomplishing that goal. The "goal" was simply a wedge to be used to give the unaccountable intelligence apparatus with more surface area from which they could attempt to gain more power and influence over the public.

But what do I know? I'm just a conspiracy theorist spreading misinformation.
