Issue #545: They're coming for our encryption tools

In the wake of the aftermath of the most recent mass shootings here in the US, the Trump Administration has come out posturing pretty aggressively against encryption technology. I highly recommend you freaks check out this article from Whitney Webb when you get a chance. Whitney does an incredible job of breaking down the posturing of the Trump Administration and the FBI against encryption technology leading up to and following last weekend's tragedies.

In short, it seems as though the Attorney General and the FBI have been looking for reasons to exploit the emotions of US citizens to enact draconian laws that would require American companies to provide back doors to encryption tools. Rendering those tools completely useless. Well, it seems that last weekend's tragedies will be exploited in an attempt to achieve these goals.

On Monday, President Trump came out very aggressively, claiming that he plans to MANDATE that the Department of Justice cooperate with federal, state, and local law enforcement as well as social media companies to ensure that they can develop tools to stop crimes before they happen. The Minority Report future we've been warning about in the rag for some time now seems to be becoming more and more of a reality by the day. This should scare the shit out of every one of you. Especially if you are a Bitcoiner. You know, since Bitcoin is pretty heavily reliant on the type of encryption technology the Trump Administration would like to deny the public from having access to if they could get their way.

Do we really want to cede power and personal information on every American to agencies like the FBI, which has probably manufactured more terrorist plots in the US than genuine attacks it has prevented? I'm not so sure.

It's times like this in which it is most imperative to stick up for your civil liberties in the Digital Age. Do not let these corrupt, evil, power-hungry sociopaths leverage public fear to take away our ability to use encryption technology. We fought and won this right in the 1990s. Another fight to preserve these inalienable rights may be on the horizon.

If you believe Bitcoin is a human right, you better stand up and begin pushing back against these attempts to expand the digital panopticon we're already living under. These types of actions are what Uncle Marty imagines would be the first steps taken on a journey to outlaw Bitcoin. Don't let emotions overcome logic.

Final thought...

Was a huge buzz cut guy in high school. The thought of buzzing my hair today sends shivers down my spine.

Enjoy your weekend, freaks.
