With significantly less subsidies fossil fuels are producing far more reliable energy. These are the facts.
It has been pretty damn cold this week in Texas. Here in Austin the temperature has been hovering around 32 degrees for the first four days of this week. All of the trees and power lines are covered in ice, the roads are a graveyard of fallen branches, and many parts of the city are without power due to the stress on the aforementioned power lines. It looks like we'll venture out of the woods later today as the temperature begins to rise well above freezing levels. Another winter storm has come and gone and the grid has weathered it pretty well all thanks to fossil fuels.
