Trump and Harris Tied in Latest National Polls Ahead of Election Day

With just three weeks remaining until Election Day, the latest national polls show a tightening race between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. According to a new poll released by NBC News on October 13, both candidates are tied at 48% support among registered voters. This marks a significant shift from NBC's September poll, which had Harris leading Trump by five points (49% to 44%).

The NBC poll was conducted between October 4 and 8, with a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points. The survey included 1,000 registered voters, reflecting the growing competitiveness as the election approaches. Democratic pollster Jeff Horwitt, who conducted the poll with Republican pollster Bill McInturff, noted, "As summer has turned to fall, any signs of momentum for Kamala Harris have stopped. The race is a dead heat."

Another poll released by ABC News and Ipsos on Sunday also reflected a close contest, with Harris leading by just two points (49% to 47%), a narrower margin compared to earlier surveys. The ABC poll included over 2,200 registered voters and had a margin of error of plus or minus 2 points.

National polling averages, such as those from FiveThirtyEight and Nate Silver's Silver Bulletin, show Harris maintaining a slim lead over Trump by around 2.5 to 3 points. However, the race is expected to come down to several key battleground states, including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Both candidates face challenges with specific voter demographics. Harris leads among women, while Trump holds a significant lead among male voters. In recent weeks, both campaigns have launched targeted efforts to close these gender gaps. Harris has made appearances on media platforms like the Call Her Daddy podcast and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, while Trump has engaged with male-dominated podcasts such as those hosted by comedian Theo Von and the Nelk Boys.

As the final weeks of the campaign unfold, the candidates' strategies and their ability to mobilize voters in critical states will play a decisive role in determining the outcome of the election.
