MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin holdings have soared past $20 billion as Bitcoin hits an all-time high of $81,617, showcasing the firm’s remarkable 100% return on investment.
MicroStrategy, the business intelligence firm led by Bitcoin advocate Michael Saylor, has seen the value of its Bitcoin holdings exceed $20 billion following a significant rally in Bitcoin’s price. According to data from “Saylor Tracker” and Bitcoin Treasuries, the company currently holds 252,200 Bitcoin, purchased at an average price of $39,292 per Bitcoin. As of today, Bitcoin has reached a record price of $81,617, pushing MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin assets up by over 100%, with more than $10 billion in unrealized gains.
The recent price surge in Bitcoin, which coincided with Donald Trump’s reelection and recent monetary policy adjustments by the Federal Reserve, has benefited other major Bitcoin holders. For instance, Bhutan’s Bitcoin holdings now exceed $1 billion, marking a significant portion of its $3.15 billion GDP, while El Salvador, another nation committed to Bitcoin, has seen its holdings increase to $482 million, yielding nearly $214 million in unrealized profits.
MicroStrategy remains the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, with a dollar-cost averaging strategy that has led to substantial growth since the company began its investments in 2020. The firm’s strategy of leveraging Bitcoin as a reserve asset has been reinforced by recent plans to raise an additional $42 billion through its “21/21 Plan,” aimed at further increasing its Bitcoin holdings over the next three years.
Bitcoin’s price spike has had a notable effect on MicroStrategy’s stock as well, with shares reaching a 25-year high at $270, reflecting a 330% increase in value year-to-date. This strong performance highlights the broader impact of Bitcoin’s resurgence on related equities in the financial market.
As MicroStrategy plans to expand its Bitcoin reserves, the company’s strategy could continue to impact the corporate landscape, potentially influencing other firms to adopt Bitcoin as a long-term asset.
