As most of you freaks are probably aware of by now, Julian Assange has been dragged out of the Ecuadorian embassy in London and is en route to the "Land of the Free" to face charges for helping Chelsea Manning break into a classified computer system.
Waking up to this news produced flashbacks to years ago when Wikileaks was a more prominent figure in the news. Back when they were dropping groundbreaking revelations like the Manning files and helping Edward Snowden escape the country as he was revealing the extent to which we are all being spied on. I can vividly remember the visceral feelings of injustice and anger that rushed through me during the wake of these revelations. The memory of these feelings made me realize how little has changed since all of these horrible atrocities against human lives and civil liberties were revealed to the public.
Because of people like Snowden and Manning and organizations like WikiLeaks we plebs have been able to pull the curtain on the Wizard of Oz and find out the truth of what really happens in our world. Over the years we have learned of our government using white phosphorous in Falluja, murdering a group of journalists and children who were mistaken for insurgents, bombing a wedding party using heat-seeking missiles dropped from miles above the Earth, indiscriminately spying on every citizen they can using an inescapable digital panopticon, and the DNC undermining the Democratic primary in 2016. All in the name of "Freedom and Liberty". These are but a few examples that come to mind at the moment.
Despite these truths being brought to life, nothing has changed. Why is this? Why is it that we have quick spurts of shock and awe; utterly flabbergasted by the notion that our governments act nefariously behind our backs, but are completely unable to change the way things are? If you've been paying attention long enough, you'll come to believe that it's because we currently live in a system that we have ZERO power over. We are fed a bullshit trough of "options" every four years of rich politicians, most of whom run for office to stroke their egos. To think that these people actually want to help the citizenry is laughable.
Every election cycle we are forced to choose between the Red team or the Blue team that are both out to bend us over and rape and pillage our pockets and civil liberties. All the while, we allow these evil people to divide us using victimhood culture and fear-mongering with obscure boogeymen only the State can save us from. Stuck in a perpetual cycle of fighting amongst ourselves while the political, banking, and media elite sit on the sidelines eating popcorn, basking in the glory of the plebs tearing themselves apart.
We are a society standing by passively as we become slaves to a system that is out to divide and exploit us. It is time that we realize that we may not be able to change the world into our liking until we understand that we must do it ourselves. The grubby politicians are not going to do it for us. They are captured by the system.
This is why I Bitcoin, freaks. It presents an opportunity to opt into a system completely separated from the corrupt system we currently live under. It swings a bit of leverage back to the individual who has felt helpless as he has watched the encroachment of an evil system creep further and further into his everyday life. Attempting to insert itself into every action and transaction on Earth.
Bitcoin is certainly not a panacea, but it is a step in the right direction. And if the US government is willing to rip a man out of a foreign embassy for a bit of old fashioned journalism (miss me with describing these actions as anything other than journalism, the act of bringing truth to light), we Bitcoiners better believe we won't be subject to similar treatment in the future. As we can see, the State does not like when you call out its wrongdoings or attempt to curb its power. Money is at the root of their power and we would be naive to believe they won't be threatened by Bitcoin too.
All the more reason to stop being complacent and act. Seize your sovereignty, educate people about the tools they can use to do the same, and hopefully, through action, we'll be able to get to a point where attacks on our liberties from the State are ephemeral. If we do not act, we may never be truly free.
Complacency kills. Wake the fuck up.
If you couldn't tell, I'm pretty pissed off today. Goosefraba. Goosefraba. Goosefraba.
