Nubank Partners with Lightspark to Integrate Bitcoin Lightning Network for 100 Million Customers

Nu Holdings, commonly known as Nubank, has announced a strategic partnership with Lightspark to integrate Bitcoin Lightning Network and Universal Money Addresses (UMA) into its services. The initiative is set to revolutionize the way Nubank's extensive customer base of over 100 million users transact using Bitcoin and fiat currencies.

The collaboration with Lightspark aims to provide Nubank customers with near real-time and low-cost transaction capabilities. This integration is expected to significantly enhance the financial experience for users across Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia by leveraging Lightning's efficiency. The announcement was first reported by Bitcoin Magazine.

"We’re excited to play a role in bringing Lightning to Nu’s 100 million customers and adding solutions to make their financial lives simpler and more efficient," said David Marcus, CEO and co-founder of Lightspark.

"The partnership with Lightspark, which has developed an excellent technical solution for the Bitcoin Lightning Network, is another step in Nubank’s mission to provide the best solutions for our clients and reinforce our long-term relationship with all of them," Thomaz Fortes, Executive Director at Nubank Cripto, highlighted the company's commitment to its customer-centric approach.

The Lightspark blog post further detailed the partnership's scope, emphasizing the potential for Nubank to create superior customer experiences without the complexity typically associated with managing a large-scale Lightning implementation.

David Marcus expressed his thrill at Nubank's decision to collaborate with Lightspark, indicating that work on the integration process with the Nubank team is already underway.
