Google Opens New Office in El Salvador

Google has officially announced the opening of its new offices in San Salvador. The global tech giant is expanding its footprint in Latin America, stating its commitment to aiding the country's modernization of government services and economic development.

Since the collaboration agreement signed with El Salvador in August 2023, Google has been actively involved in supporting the country's efforts to modernize its processes and improve services provided to its citizens. This has included offering training to various government entities and focusing on areas such as "digital government, healthcare, and education."

In the public sector, Google has been working closely with the government to develop "digital ecosystems for import/export processes and health and sanitary registration."

In healthcare, Google has trained government agencies in the use of cloud technologies and is now aiding in the development of a "telemedicine platform utilizing artificial intelligence to automate processes and increase access to health services in El Salvador."

In partnership with El Salvador’s Ministry of Education since 2020, Google has provided Google Workspace for Education accounts to all public school students and has trained teachers through the National Institute for Teacher Training. The next phase includes introducing Chromebooks for fourth grade students, as well as digital skills training for teachers and students.

Eduardo López, President of Google Cloud for Latin America, stated, "Our commitment to El Salvador is long-term. Today, we are opening this office, marking our official entry into the country to actively enable cloud technologies that generate a positive impact on economic development and growth opportunities for the Salvadoran population."

Google.org, Google's philanthropic arm, will also donate $200,000 USD to regional civil society organizations to provide digital skills training to local entrepreneurs. This initiative is part of a broader effort to help local businesses grow through the use of digital platforms, such as Google Ads.
